Port Akdeniz – The Port of Antalya is a multipurpose port with separate harbours for cruise ships, container ships and bulk cargo vessels as well as a yacht marina. It is widely regarded as being one of the seaports with the highest developmental potential in Turkey today. Occupying more than 136,000 m² of area in a part of Turkey that hosts millions of tourists a year and whose tourism and trade continue to grow rapidly, Port Akdeniz is the biggest and best-equipped seaport along the 700-km Turkish Aegean- Mediterranean coast stretching from İzmir in the west to Mersin in the east.

In July 2010, the sole owner and operator of Port Akdeniz – The Port of Antalya became Global Ports Holding. The company made vast investments. The old terminal building was completely renovated; and a new 1000 sqm A/C room was finalized in a couple of months. Necessary x-ray machines at the exit and entrance of the luggage room and the terminal building were added in order to create a safe and secure operation. Port Akdeniz hosted totaly 60 cruise calls in 2012, 34 of them being home port operations.

Because of the capacity and convenience of its own yacht basin facilities, Port Akdeniz also plays an important role in domestic and international yacht tourism along the Turkish Mediterranean. The primary target of the company was to position Port Akdeniz as a turn-around port in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Since Global Ports Holding acquired Port Akdeniz – The Port of Antalya, it has begun to host larger cruise ships making turnaround operations and the number of cruise passengers it serves has steadily increased.
